WORKSHOPS
Carpe Lumen! Photographic Workshops are high
energy, instructional, nature photography
workshops with an emphasis on photographic
instruction and fun. I strive to give each
participant as much photographic instruction as
possible, maximizing your overall experience. I
feel strongly that when you return home,
regardless of your level of experience, you
will take with you new skills, new images and
the confidence to make great images.
My workshops are geared toward people who already know their way around their camera (beginning to intermediate photographers).
The small group size (maximum of 6 to 8
participants) assures you of a high level of individual attention during the workshop. In the field I'll sometimes set up shots to demonstrate different techniques, but usually I'm looking through your cameras and making suggestions. I don't do much shooting during workshops unless it's to set something up to share with the group or to photograph workshop participants.
Workshops will take place in scenic locales, with a strong emphasis on “seeing the light”, composition, and slowing down to really see. Workshops typically start on a Friday evening, meeting for introductions and instruction, and then out to the field very early the next morning to take advantage of the wonderful light that awaits those who rise early. Workshops will end in the early to late afternoon on Saturday.
Spot critiques with individuals utilizing the camera's LCD will be done throughout the day. Critiques are very laid back and informal, though the critiques are honest and I offer suggestions on how an image can be improved. Each participant will receive a notebook with handouts of the subjects covered during the workshop.
The 2007 Workshops were booked up early. We had a lot of fun, and I want to thank the participants for contributing to the workshop's success. Thank you! I'm looking forward to the 2008 workshops!
