If you aspire to take your bird and/or wildlife photography to a new level, this workshop is for you! Contrary to popular belief, you do not need a $5000+ lens to do this type of photography. A good zoom to 300mm or 400mm will suffice utilizing the techniques learned in this workshop. All of the above photos were taken with a Canon 100-400mm zoom. And not always at 400mm!

Friday night's classroom session will include:
Locations to find your subjects
Calling techniques & equipment
Getting close through the effective use of clothing, stealth, blinds, &
observation
Lighting
Composition
Perspective
Exposure compensation utilizing the camera's histogram
Exposure techniques for freezing action and pan blur effects
Camera stabilization techniques for sharper photos
Lighting -- (Yeah, it's pretty important. That's why I mentioned it
TWICE.)

Saturday
early A.M.
We will meet at our destination and utilize what was learned the evening before to capture young Canada Goose goslings, mature geese and ducks (Mallards & American Widgeon) and (hopefully) Mallard ducklings in a natural environment. If the weather cooperates we will be photographing in wonderful light for a couple of hours.
We will then break for breakfast/brunch (on your own) and meet back at my house for a learning session on "Backyard Bird Photography". We will dicuss:
Attracting Birds
Backgrounds
Creating natural photos using feeders & perches

Then it's out to my backyard to photograph small birds like the American Goldfinch, Mourning Dove, various sparrows, and Redwing Blackbird utilizing my photo blinds and special perches. The workshop will end around 3:00 p.m.

The cost of this workshop is just $125

I am confident that you will take many great photos home with you!
